My 5 Senses: Taste and Smell

Fun activities this week included making our "My Taste Book." We tasted/smelled things that were sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami! Some of us liked sweet and salty, some of us did not like bitter or umami:

We made scented pumpkins using tissue paper, simple shapes, and pumkin spice, mmmmm! We also categorized the items we tasted by "Yes, I do" and No, I don't" like it. We then made our apples by pinting them red and sprinkling them with cinnamon:

We played with our friends and took turns on the car track, some of us even came up with different obstacles together. We enjoyed singing our greeting song during circle time. We also had fun running the obstacle course with Mr. George during PE time, as well as playing with our Alphabots with a friend:

Next week's lesson's revolve around fall/autumn, leaves, the colors red, yellow, and orange. Here is the song that goes along with autumn leaves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKjUPqbt8DU

We will also be reading "Go Away, Big Green Monster," a story about conquering one's fears, found here: http://www.amazon.com/Go-Away-Big-Green-Monster/dp/0316236535/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1443808759&sr=1-1&keywords=go+away+green+big+monster
