First Few Weeks of Fun

Now that we have the blog up and running, we can share with you a little of what we've been up to the first few weeks here at Chandler. Our first theme revolved around "School Days," so we read books pertaining to the theme of school. We love Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC7SWvxge30)!

Next, We had an opportunity to explore texture and play with shaving cream, because, while in school, we are little explorers! The kids loved spreading the shaving cream, feeling it on their hands, writing in it with their fingers, and talking about what they were doing to their friends

.

Our theme this week and next week revolves around the theme "Physical Me," so we are discussing, singing, and reading about parts of the body in order to increase vocabulary. Our warm-up activity before Circle Time consists of following along to "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" found here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4eueDYPTIg)

Next, we used our hands to work on our cutting skills. It was great to see how involved and determined many of the children were!

For this coming week, we will continue our focus on "Physical Me," Along with introducing the story "From Head to Toe" by Eric Carle found here (http://www.amazon.com/Head-Toe-Board-Book/dp/0694013013). The kids will also be introduced to a new song found on the Have Fun Teaching Channel having to do with the theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2pUxxM8W3g). Stay tuned!!!
